Mines MTB loop: Monteponi, San Giovanni and Campo Pisano

A mountain-bike loop linking the great mining sites south-west of Iglesias: the Monteponi mine, San Giovanni with its Santa Barbara cave, the Asproni workers’ village and the spoil heaps of Seddas Moddizzis. You ride mining roads, dirt tracks and short stretches of tarmac.

From Seddas Moddizzis you head back east via Genna Luas and Campo Pisano, with its red tailings, and return to town. The surface alternates packed gravel and rough sections: MTB tyres, not gravel ones. Some mining areas are fenced or open only with a guide, so check the line on the ground.
