This is the circuit’s most muscular day: more than 800 metres up and nearly 900 down in just over 17 km. Much of the walking is off road, with long ridge sections opening across southern Umbria.
The day ends among the tiny neighbouring villages of Morre and Collelungo. Poles are useful on both the climbs and the sustained descent, while a deliberately easy first hour pays off later.
The hilliest stage of the circuit, with long stretches on unsurfaced tracks.
Accommodation around Morre and Collelungo is simple and personal, with only a handful of rooms and donation-based options. These beds are often the first to fill.
