The handiest base for the Marmolada, Sella and Sassolungo: trails start in the village and lifts take the sting out of the climbs.

Canazei sits at the head of the Val di Fassa, at 1,460 m, hemmed in by the Marmolada, the Sella group and the Sassolungo. It works as a base because CAI-numbered trails leave straight from the village and three lifts (Belvedere, Pecol, Ciampac) put you at altitude within minutes.

Over a week you can alternate long days on the Viel dal Pan or the Passo Pordoi with shorter loops in the woods around Alba and Penia. Cyclists have the Fiemme and Fassa valley cycleway, almost entirely on a dedicated path, plus a network of signed MTB routes.
